Nissim Kalderon

Nissim Kalderon is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice has centred on painting since 1996, extending into graphic design, sound, and artist books. His work explores the relationship between past and present, translating the visual languages of high technology into tactile, low technology forms.
Kalderon studied textile design at Shenkar in Israel and completed studies in art and art education at Kalisher in Tel Aviv. His practice has included work in Berlin in 2004, several solo exhibitions, and the curation of group exhibitions in Israel.
At the heart of his practice is a series of 25 artist books: an evolving visual diary documenting his life in Israel and the dialogue between an artist’s inner world and the physical realities around him. Through drawing, painting, and experimentation, these books explore the relationship between spirit and matter. Their pages unfold as sequences of images, suggesting a form of still video art in which movement emerges through juxtaposition, rhythm, and the act of turning a page.
Alongside the books, Kalderon creates paintings across a range of scales, including substantial works on canvas. His paintings have been sold to collectors both directly and through galleries. Across these different forms, his work brings personal experience, cultural memory, and technological change into a distinctive visual language.
